Tri-Wall hosts SMMT networking event to strengthen automotive partnerships

Tri-Wall UK welcomed members of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) to its West Midlands facility on 15 July for an afternoon of networking, knowledge sharing and automotive packaging insights.

The event formed part of the SMMT’s regional networking programme, which brings members together to discuss industry challenges, share expertise and build relationships across the UK automotive supply chain.

As an SMMT member with extensive experience supporting automotive manufacturers and suppliers, Tri-Wall was proud to host the event and give visitors a closer look at its packaging expertise and manufacturing capabilities.

Guests were invited to take a tour of the Wednesbury facility, meet members of the Tri-Wall team and see examples of specialist packaging solutions designed to protect complex and high-value automotive components throughout storage, handling and transportation.

The event was held at Tri-Wall’s 60,000 sq ft manufacturing facility, which opened in 2025 as part of the company’s continued investment in its West Midlands operations. Equipped with new machinery, the site has increased production capacity, improved production speeds and expanded the range of packaging solutions available to customers.

The visit also gave attendees the opportunity to connect with other local automotive businesses and discuss how closer collaboration can help create more value, improve efficiency and address shared supply chain challenges.

Battery packaging and the transition to electric vehicles

One of the key topics to emerge from the event was battery packaging, as the automotive industry continues its transition towards electric vehicles.

EV batteries and their associated components can present complex packaging requirements. Solutions must protect high-value products while also supporting safe and efficient handling, storage and transportation throughout the supply chain.

Tri-Wall shared its experience in this rapidly developing area, highlighting how packaging can be designed around the specific needs of automotive manufacturers and suppliers while maintaining high standards of protection and performance.
